According to an article in the June 13, 2007, edition of The Cherokee Scout, the newspaper set a new record by winning eight awards in the 2007 NC Press Association Advertising Contest.
The Cherokee Scout has been Cherokee County’s local newspaper since 1889.
The eight awards, including four first-place awards in several categories, were twice as many as the Scout has won before in Division B. Only one newspaper in the division won more awards than the Cherokee Scout.
(As quoted in the newspaper,) “This is a tremendous accomplishment for our team of creative graphic artists and advertising sales associates,” said David Brown, publisher of the Cherokee Scout. “I’ve always known they were more than capable of first-class work, and it’s nice to see that also appreciated by their peers in the newspaper industry. I’m very proud of all of them.”
Congratulations to all the sales associates and graphic artists who won awards.
