While Parker’s Drug Store is the newest business to be added to MurphyGold.com, it is not a new business in Murphy, NC.

I was talking to Tony Godfrey about this a couple of days ago, and he showed me two photos that are posted near the pharmacy in the downtown store. One shows Parker’s Drugs in a different building (taken in 1910) and the other shows the store in its current location, and that photo was taken in 1919. So, sometime between 1910 and 1919, Parker’s Drug Store opened in its current location in the heart of downtown Murphy, NC.

Parker’s Drug Store is owned by Tony Godfrey and Jody Lee. You’ll usually find Tony working in the downtown location and Jody working in the Parker’s At Peachtree location, near Murphy Medical Center (hospital and nursing home).

The pharmacists and staff at Parker’s Drug Store have helped generations of customers deal with health problems, and my family is just one of their many satisfied customers.

In addition to prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications, you’ll also find health supplies and equipment, gifts, cards, perfumes and colognes, and a very popular snack bar in their downtown location.

There are many reasons that were important when we decided to invite them to join Murphy Gold and we are happy to have Parker’s Drug Store as our most recent member.
