Bryan Durrance was the top sales agent for the month by closing the most transactions in December.

Nick Guthrie was the top listing agent. He listed the highest number of new properties in and around the Murphy, NC area.

Johnny Prather donates to US Marines Toys for Tots - Murphy, NC 28906

Johnny Prather, owner/broker of Western Carolina Real Estate Co., Inc. in Murphy, NC, recently presented a check for $1,000 to the US Marine Corps Reserves Toys For Tots foundation.

Marjorie Thaggard, local Toys for Tots coordinator, and Ron Eichholz, who will be taking over for Thaggard this year, accepted the check.

The money was used to buy Christmas presents for Cherokee County children.

Murphy High School SGA Successfully Raises Funds for Sign - Murphy, NC 28906

According to a report in the May 30, 2007, edition of the Cherokee Scout submitted by Brittany McKinnon, the Student Government Association of Murphy High School has successfully raised the funds needed to purchase a large LED sign.

The sign costs about $30,000, and area businesses donated enough money to make the purchase possible.

The following businesses each donated $5,000 for the cause: Ace Hardware of Murphy and Andrews, Lewis D. Jones Insurance, Western Carolina Real Estate Co Inc, United Community Bank, and Badcock Home Furnishings Center.

Ann Carroll and Dee Matthews were the top real estate listing and selling agents for April, 2007, at Western Carolina Real Estate Co Inc.

Dee Matthews was the top sales agent for the month by closing the most transactions in April. She joined the company in July, 2004.

Ann Carroll was the top listing agent for the month by listing the highest number of new properties in and around the Murphy, NC, area. She joined the company in March, 2006.

Ann Carroll Earns Seniors Real Estate Specialist Designation - Murphy, NC 28906

Ann Carroll, an associate broker with Western Carolina Real Estate Co., Inc. who has been with the company since March 2006, was awarded the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) professional designation by the Senior Advantage Real Estate Council of Murphys, California.

Seniors Real Estate Specialists help seniors make wise decisions about selling the family home, buying rental property, managing the capital gains and estate tax implications of owning real estate, obtaining a reverse mortgage, moving to a senior community, and other issues. By earning the designation, Carroll has demonstrated that she has the knowledge, experience, and expertise to be a Seniors Real Estate Specialist.

The Senior Advantage Real Estate Council tracks the special issues and needs of senior property owners and provides education to realtors who make seniors an important focus of their business. The designation was introduced in 1997 and is nationally recognized.

Western Carolina Real Estate Company Donates to Special Olympics - Murphy, NC 28906

Johnny Prather, owner of Western Carolina Real Estate Co., Inc., recently presented a $1,000 check to Glenda Stiles, local Special Olympics coordinator.

The money will be used for the 2006 Spring Games, which start at 10:00 am on Friday, April 28, 2006. This is the first time in eight years that the games will be held in Cherokee County and the first time Andrews, NC will host the Spring Games.

Special Olympics is the second recipient of the company’s designated “Giving Back to the Community” budget for 2006.
